Welcome to all Insurance Seekers

Whilst most people regard Experian as a credit reference agency, the company describes itself as a leading global information services company. It operates in 65 countries and helps businesses manage credit risk and prevent fraud, as well as automating decision making and targeting marketing offers. For consumers, it provides credit report information and advice plus protection against identity theft.
Experian has over 100,000 corporate clients in the UK. These include financial services organisations, retailers and insurance companies that rely on it for credit information. It also helps public sector organisations with policy formulation and service delivery.

Most people who know the Equifax name will recognise it as a credit reference agency. However, it's quite a bit more than that. Equifax has been going for over one hundred years, has its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia and employs around 6,900 people in fourteen countries. It provides businesses and consumers with mainly financial information.
Services include portfolio management, fraud detection, decision technology and marketing tools. The company claims to let consumers manage their personal credit information, protect their identity and generally improve their financial well-being.

Credit scoring is a bit of a black art. Many people haven't heard of it and those who have generally don't know how it works, how it affects them and what their own credit rating is. But it is very important because it can have a negative effect on your life if things aren't as they should be.
If you apply for a credit card, loan, mortgage or overdraft, your credit history will be checked. This also happens if you get a mobile phone on contract or pay insurance premiums monthly. A poor credit history can result in rejection so it's best to know where you stand.
